Punks!

We carved pumpkins last night! these are me and dans, can you guess whos is whos? mine is the one with the brighter candle (that wasnt done on purpose! dans was a little dim, the candle must be going out! It was fun though!

Brigher than sunshine!

Man it felt good to paint today. i just had to do something, so i turned my guest bedroom into sort of a display of my artwork, i put up my favorite things i've done, and that made me want to do more! so i decided to go back to still life, and see what i could do with something in my house. i chose a plant i bought last week, of some flowers. at first it was really hard, i have not drawn or painted flowers really at all, so i didnt know what to do and i found myself "licking" the canvas as Richard Schmid would call it, not really knowing what im aiming for, just sort of hoping that by chance i hit the right stroke. well, that doesnt work. just like he said. this is making so much more sense now. and i didnt finish the details like i usually do first. i did it the right way, i did the picture first by the big things, as they say , Paint what you see last, first. in other words, dont start with the details. make sure you've got the right set up and make sure all the major players are correct, shape, size, color, value... so i did it. and im glad i did, it felt so good to paint. i just love it. this painting is unlike any i've done before , its not of a person, which is very different, and its not as thick of paint. i tried to keep it cleaner, so i could change a little. good thing since i ended up having to wipe the entire flower i first tried, when i was sort of lost. but then i started referring to the flower for answers, and all i needed to know was right in front of my eyes, i just had to look at it! sometimes i try to draw from memory, i forget that i am not supposed to paint from memory. but as soon as i compare my painting to the actual object, it joggs my memory well enough. anyways, so i might have to take another picture tomarrow, since these are sort of either too dark or too light. Well, good night. its about time for bed! tomarrow we are having a bbq with Camie and Rhett over, and audrey and jackie and all the kids! FUll house! but i've been dreaming of a big bbq at my own house forever!! and now its all happening! too bad all you reading this couldnt be here too.

Trunk or Treat!

My ward, and audreys ward got together for Trunk or Treat! Heres some of the kids in their costumes, and also the little boy with me is Josh, hes such a sweet little boy! audreys friend Jackie had to work, so audrey took her kids. we had a great time! got to know the ward a little better, had a bbq there and everything! dan was late so he missed all that. they had a blow up trampoline thing, and lots of games, emma really liked the painting pumkins one.

here are some before and after picture of the house! we got our trees today! some queen palms, ficus's and a pinnapple palm!! pretty cool huh!

Heres Dan in front of a house he lived in on his mission, in St David Arizona. It didnt look like missionaries still lived there. Cute little town though, very green, lots of big trees.
